It’s getting closer to Christmas, you guys!
This weekend we had a lot of cold wet weather (unfortunately without snow) and I really wanted a holiday treat. Back in the days when I could eat whatever I wanted, I practically lived on hot chocolate. I always loved added spices to make it a little different.
This particular recipe uses natural ingredients without the loads of sugar. The best part is that you can freeze this hot chocolate and it becomes ice cream!
- 1 can full fat unsweetened coconut milk (don’t use light or cream because it won’t thicken as well! this is healthy fat!
- 4-5 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- sprinkle of stevia
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- sprinkle sea salt
- 1 T grade b maple syrup
In a small saucepan, add the coconut milk removing any sitting coconut water off of the top.
Heat to medium, or until the coconut milk starts to melt.
Add the cocoa powder and all other ingredients.
Whisk well until all clumps are removed.
Serve hot or freeze for a cold treat!
